 Opening Day

Museum hours for the season:

May 12 –25, 10am-4pm, Monday – Saturday; 1-4pm Sunday.  

May 26 – Sept. 1, 9am-8pm, Monday – Saturday; 1-8pm Sunday.

Sept. 2 – 30, 10am-4pm, Monday – Saturday; 1-4pm Sunday.  

 

Old Time Country Fair

July 4-6 2008, daily from 10am-6pm

Held on the grounds of the Museum, this event features vendors offering their hand made items for sale, pie baking contests, a 4th of July Children’s Parade, entertainment stage, demonstrations in historic arts and crafts, Meet the Authors book signings, children’s activities, and much, much more!  Interested vendors call the Museum office at 605-673-2443 or contact events@1881courthousemuseum.com  Free admission to the fair.

Custer Stampede Buffalo Artists Reception

September 26, 2008  

A great opportunity to visit with the artists who have created one-of-a-kind works of art on specially cast life-sized buffalo figures and purchase other artwork directly from the artists.  For more information on the Custer Stampede Buffalo Art on display in the Black Hills from May through September or for instructions on how to bid on the Buffalo Art, visit

The Haunting!

October 25, 2008from 5-8:00pm

The historic building becomes a haunted Museum for a night of fun for all ages. Admission $2 per person, or $1 + one can of food for the Custer Food Pantry Judging of carved pumpkins by the Custer Area Arts Council and a Halloween Carnival at the Elementary School Gym 

 

 Christmas at the Museum Open House

December 6, 2008 from 11am-7pm   

Enjoy the sights, sounds, and aromas of an old-fashioned Christmas in the three-story Museum decked for the holidays inside and out.  Entertainment, special seasonal displays, and the opportunity for youngsters to make old-fashioned Christmas decorations to take home will make your visit a holiday treat.   A memorable sight is the Festival of Trees held in the original courtroom.  To sponsor a tree for the Festival, call the Museum office at 605-673-2443 or contact events@1881courthousemuseum.com.
